It’s been a while since my last update here.  I am not going to spend time making bunch of excuses as to why.

Anyways, it looks like I’ll soon have to spend some time with WP Vault again, so that is my intention.   A couple of priority for the next version:

1. Support for the newest WordPress
2. Ability to allow direct linking, but only if the admin allows it.
3. Bug fixes (In particular, I’ve been hearing about  some issues opening PDF on FF2 & 3, so I’ll look into that.)

WP Vault version 0.8.6.6 is now available. This is yet another bug fix release.

If you already installed 0.8.6, you can simply write over the WP Vault files, without disabling/enabling the WP Vault plugin. If you still have the older version, please take the usual steps for upgrading.

I spent many hours out of my free time to create and improve WP Vault.  It is far from perfect, and there are quite a bit that I want to do yet, but I think  it’s at fairly stable and useful state.

And it’s good to know that people are downloading the software here and there, but I honestly don’t know if those who download it find it useful or not.

If you have a WordPress site where you have successfully implemented WP Vault, I would like to know about it.  You can send the link to wpvault@y-zone.net.  Once I personally verify that you have indeed implemented the plugin, I’ll list your blog site.

Maybe this’ll help improving the rank in search engines just a little…

Just a few hours after the release of WP Vault 0.8.6, I’ve noticed some annoying bug in it. So now version 0.8.6.1 is released, which fix that problem.

I’ve been working on WP Vault 0.8.6, and I think it’s close to being release ready.

However, with WordPress 2.3 just around the corner, I think I’ll hold off the release of this version until I verify that the new version of WP Vault will work with both WP 2.3 and 2.2.  In fact, I expect some problem with the current WP Vault on WP 2.3 because of its change with category structure that I’ve been hearing about.

This will take some extra time, but I think it’s better this way in a long run.
