Please post any bug you may have found on WP Vault version 0.8.x here. Please ensure that you are filing a bug report for the correct version! |
Browser: Firefox 2.0.0.6
Admin Menu
Content is not showing right in the middle of the browser window.
To see it you have to scroll to the right side.
With IE 7.0.5730.11 it shows it correct.
You did a great job. Thanks
Hi there. I am setting up a wordpress site, and I want to use your plug-in.
1. I uploaded all files, 2. the permissions are changed to 777 on the directory, 3. I activated the plug-in on wordpress, and 4. the menu at the top does have my directory called “vault’ there.
But, when I click on “vault” to go to the admin page, nothing is there. The page does not load. so I can not redirect the path.
Thanks for a great plug-in.
Roxanne Z.
please email me when you have time to respond, I am deactivaing the plugin until I hear from you. Thanks,
RZ
RZ, I’ve contacted over email as requested.
I’m running WordPress version 2.2.2. I just installed WP-Vault version 0.8.6.2.
1. I uploaded all files, 2. the permissions are changed to 777 on the directory, 3. I activated the plug-in on WordPress, and 4. the menu at the top does shows the directory Vault.
…But when I clicked on Vault, I got the following message:
“It appears that the WP Vault database tables were not created properly in the activation process. Please make sure that the database user that’s assigned to your installtion of WordPress has table create privilege to your WordPress database (database user and password are defined in wp-config.php file), then try re-activating the plugin.”
The thing is, I DO HAVE “table create privilege” but NO WHERE does it tell me what tables I am to create. What tables am I to create to make sure the database tables are where they need to be so that I can use WP-Fault?
Thank you for your time.
Hi -
I’ve installed Vault ver 0.8.6.2 on WP version 2.3. Everything is working well. I just have 1 question how do I change the font settings that are used in the display page?
I’ve looked at wpv-display.css.php file, but I can’t see where these items are modified. It looks like there should be an “admin” area in WP, but I don’t see one.
Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks for your help.
I answered my own question above. However, I have one other question - how is the order determined if I have multiple files linked to one page?
Hi Barb,
You can change the order of the files linked. Click on Linked Files tab in Link Manager. Then select the files you want to shift and click on “Move Selected” button.
The interface here isn’t great, but it does work. I am intending to rewrite this screen soon.
Thanks for the help on “move selected”. I’ve manage to successfully link - 3 documents to this page - http://brightonchamber.org/wp/newsletters/
But, the 1 linked file I have attached to this page - does not appear.
http://brightonchamber.org/wp/join-the-chamber/
What am I doing wrong?
Hi Barb,
I looked at the second link. It’s hard to say just by looking at that to tell you what might have gone wrong.
One thing to check is the display option under Link Manager. What does your page look like inside the preview window at the bottom? Is the file attached there? Are your linked images published?
If the problem is not solved soon, let me know, and I’ll contact you through email and see if we can diagnose it.
hi,
congratulations. but, is it possible to offer front end users the possibility to use it with their posts ?
thanks
Hi Deuch,
I am sorry to say, that I am not understanding what you are trying to do.
Generally, only a author of a post may link (attach) files to it, unless you are an administrator (then you can link files to any post). Any one with no account to a blog (is that what you mean by “front end user”?) cannot add any files to any post.
If I go to Vault — Link Manager –Pages — and click “Preview” to the right of ANY page (with or without an attachment) all I see is the header image in the preview screen. None of the textual page content displays at all in the preview window.
If I go to Manage — Pages — View, I can see the attached files for the newsletter page. I do not see the attached file for the “Join Chamber” page.

This is a VERY useful plugin when dealing with PodPress (cant upload files in PodPress)
I have only had limited success with it however.
My site URL and my wordpress installation are in two different directories.
This is a common setup for some folks whom have put their wordpress in it’s own directory. Instructions are listed under the General Options page.
Having installed the plugin in the proper wordpress directory, under these conditions, I noticed that quite a few of the plugins features break, Mostly returning 404 errors because the page or sub-page being called is not in the home directory.
This is not the only plugin that has done this and in most cases a simple Wordpress call can correct the issue.
i.e. a value is assigned as
$plugin = ‘wp-content/plugins/someplugin.php’
The simple correction is this call
$plugin = ABSPATH.’wp-content/plugins/someplugin.php’
Your code however is very complex and makes several javascript calls from various locations… I can not locate all of the calls or assigned variables to fix my instalation.
Could you please let me know if/when this is corrected in future updates?
I’ll take a look at this situation. In previous version, I had a bug with WP Vault where it didn’t work when WordPress was installed in a directory (i.e., http://www.some_site.com/wordpress) which was fixed. I must have overlooked the situation you encountered.
Thank you for letting me know!
Please try out version 8.6.3. I corrected the issue with different WP and blog URL.
After installing and activating the plugin, I receiving the following error when posting regardless of whether a file is linked or not:
WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ” at line 1]

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /path/to/wp-db.php:133) in /path/to/wordpress/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 341
If I deactivate the plugin the problem goes away. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Steve,
I am still trying to see if I can recreate the situation based on your description. Thanks for reporting!
Preview works, live site not; why? This is the preview: http://www.kryonet.hu/~zimmera.....eview=true This is the page in “normal” view: http://www.kryonet.hu/~zimmerandras/?p=3 I know the content doesn’t make sense to you — it’s the picture that doesn’t come up in the normal view. Also, I’m not sure how the “float left” / “float right” thumbnail table display options work. Is there any available documentation on this?
Have you published your files? If you look toward the bottom of Link Manager > Display Option, there are buttons for saving and publishing. Unless you publish, thumbnails will not be visible to public, even if the post or the page is published.
“Float right”/”Float left” places the thumbnail images at upper right/left corner while text wraps around. For this to work properly, you MUST specify the exact width (100px, 200px, etc), and you should probably make the thumbnail table 1 or 2 columns.
The idea for having separate publish/draft status than the page or the post is so that you can play with formatting of thumbnail tables before making it available to public.
As for help and documentations, there are quick help type of things by rolling your mouse over ? icons in Display Options. I know it’s not much, but I hope it helps a little.
Thanks, it was the publishing (not realized I’ve got to publish it separately).
Hello,
I just tried installing v 0.8.6.4 to above site using Wordpress 2.3.1, and I get the following message at the Vault, Vault tab, “Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 184320 bytes) in /home/kevis/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/wp-vault/lib/wpv-table-file.php on line 319″. Please advise what I am doing wrong–I apparently successfully created the directory.
Hello again,
I solved my own problem– it turned out to be interaction with a plug in called “Redirect” which was creating some other issues too. Everything seems to be working fine now.
Hi Kevis,
Well, I am glad you were able to figure it out, because honestly, I have never seen that issue before…
Hi there,
I tried installing WP-VAULT: 0.8.6.4 on WordPress 2.3 with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; nl; rv:1.8.1.9) Gecko/20071025 Firefox/2.0.0.9 on XPPro - SP 2 (version 2002)
I activated the plugin (/wp-admin/plugins.php) and the tab appeared. When browsing to “option” I got this message:
It appears that the WP Vault database tables were not created properly in the activation process.
Please make sure that the database user that’s assigned to your installtion of WordPress has table create privilege to your WordPress database (database user and password are defined in wp-config.php file), then try re-activating the plugin.
The info in wp-config.php is corrected (double-checked)
Hi Zebra242,
Is there any ways to verify that the activation created those tables? Any WP Vault related tables have “wpv” in the table names.
If the tables were created correctly, then there may be bugs with detection of tables. If not, then there may be bugs with table creation script.
Hey - using the latest version of your plugin with WP 2.2.1, and most of the functionality just doesn’t work. I can upload, but none of the buttons on the FTP upload page do anything, nor do any of the buttons on the main vault page itself. No image thumbnails ever come up, it just stays at ‘loading…’. I also can’t select any items on the Link Manager page.
…this is both in FF2 and IE6.
Hi JP,
Sounds like a case of broken links.
There are a bug in previous version which could cause the exact symptom you described, but if you have the latest 0.8.6.4, I can’t think of the cause of this off top of my head.
Are the WordPress Address (URL) and Blog Address (URL) under Options->General different? Is your WordPress installation at the root (i.e., http://sample.com/), or at directory? (i.e, http://sample.com/wordpress)
Wordpress and blog url are the same, and vault version is indeed 0.8.6.4.
Is there anything else that I can do to get you more info about the issue? What was the bug that caused that problem in the previous version?
Hello!
I don’t know if it is really a bug or you have just realised about it.
When i link a image to a post, the image is correctly shown, but if i change the text of the post and i insert “” in order to don’t show all the text, the image dissapears.
Please tell me if you have a solution for that, because i need that the image appear when i use “”. You have done a good job with this plugin, congratulations! Thanks,
Victor (sorry for my not perfect english ;))
Sorry, the text hasn’t shown because is a HTML comment.
The text inside the ” ” is: (without the spaces)
Sorry again! The text is: !–more– With the HTML tokens > <
Hi Victor,
If you use <!–more–> token, then your post is separated. That is, clicking on “more” link reveals the content of the whole post.
The attached images should be visible when you see the whole post.
Is this what you mean?
Yes it is, the image is visible when i see the whole post.
But i want that the imagen is also visible when the post is separated because i have used “more”, and doing this, the image is not visible.
The question is, what can i do to see the image when the post is separated?
Thanks,
Victor
Hi Victor,
As of now (0.8.6.4), that’s not possible.
But it makes sense for the image to be visible with “more”, if the images are linked above of the post. I’ll look into your request on the future release.
Ok, thanks!
I will get the future release
hi there,
Great plugin!! but one question. When I want to upload a zip file It won’t work. I don’t get any error It just won’t upload. So far I tried a pdf and a doc file and that works fine. I use the release 0.8.6.5 and WP 2.3.1 it runs all with wamp under windows. Any idea??
greatings
Hi martjin,
I don’t know off top of my head. It could be a bug, so I’ll check it out. Thank you for letting me know!
Hi Motoo Y,
thanks I’ll stay tuned
Hi martijn,
I tried uploading a zip file, and it worked fine.
I wonder if it has to do with file size? Often times your host impose file upload size restriction.
How big was the zip file you tried uploading? Can you try uploading a smaller zip file (about 1MB), and see if it works?
Hi Motoo Y,
a smaller file did work, thanks for the idee. Now I need to find out why a bigger zip file won’t work.. the host that I’m I
think someting in the php or apache settings..
thanks for your input
First time using. Uploaded a 1.3mb file fine. Then when I tried to upload a 700k file I got this error.
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 16777216 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 4700 bytes) in /home/para/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-vault/lib/wpv-function-image.php on line 45
Could this be because my PHP memory_limit is set at 16mb? Wouldn’t that be enough?
Hi Corey,
If it’s the memory issue, I guess it would be dependent of the process that WP Vault performs.
wpv-function-image.php contains imange manipulating functions to resize images (using GD library functions). It is possible that this process requires more memory than other tasks.
Hi. I would love to try out this plugin but I’m getting the “It appears that the WP Vault database tables were not created properly in the activation process” error. I have checked and it is correct it did not creat the tabels. I was wondering how to go about doing this so that I can get this to work? It would be best if you could get back to me through email, if that is possible for you. Thanks in advance!
Hi,
Firstly thanks for a great plugin… it rocks.
I have uncovered a bug in that if you link and uploaded file to a page (or post) that is password protected, the file shows up along with the field to enter a password.
I think that the file should remain hidden until the password is entered and when the password is entered correctly then the linked file should be visible.
If there is a quick fix to enable this to happen I would really appreciate an e-mail detailing how as some sensitive information from a client site is now visible without going through the necessary authentication.
Thanks
Gregg
Hi Greg,
Thanks for reporting. Actually, you are the second person to point out that bug. That adds more urgency to fixing it.
I have just download the new release, thanks for fix the ‘more’ problem Motoo Y., and congratulations for this plugin, it’s too useful.
Thanks,
Victor
Hi Victor,
It’s never *too* useful…:) Anyways, it’s good to hear that you find it useful.
I have the same activation problem mentioned here a few times. PHP 5 and MySQL 4. Is there a workaround or another similar plugin?
Hi Laurence,
I am assuming you are talking about database tables not being created properly.
Everyone reports that the admin user does indeed have “CREATE TABLE” privilege. I am quite puzzled by this issue..I just can’t recreate it!
For the time being, I have no walk around, but I guess I should publish the raw SQL command, so tables can be manually installed.
As for similar plug-ins, I know there are several that allows you to make image gallery (provide nicer looks than WP Vault), but in term of full functionality, I am not aware of any other plug-in.
Hi,
I am running WP 2.3.3, mySQL 5.0.44, PHP 5.2.5 with GDlib enabled and WPVault 0.8.6.6. The plugin installed with no issues. My problem is with the vault links, they keep generating 404 errors.
This is the URL to the “Vault” link in the admin menu:
http://ewdev01/breakbulk/conte.....rowser.php
This loads fine, my WP install is NOT in the root folder since it is on a development server. the wordpress folder starts at /content.
This is the link I see for the “link manager”:
http://ewdev01/breakbulk/conte.....anager.php
None of the other vault links work as well. I was able to successfully set the folder where the images are to be uploaded.
Thanks for any help.
Hi Pablo,
I am trying to see how you are getting the second link. The link to the link manager should look similar to the “Vault” link, with page parameter being different.
I was pretty sure I fixed any issues with the case of not using the root directory, but nonetheless, I’ll look into it.
Thanks for reporting.
Hi there,
I cannot de-activate the following points on my role manager no matter what role I create:
Wpv Edit Tags
Wpv Edit Own Files
Wpv Access Own Posts
Wpv Upload Files
Wpv Browse Own Files
What can I do? I would appreciate an email.
Thanks!
I’m on WP 2.6 and Wp-Vault installed just fine. However, when I access the page where are presented the documents, the pdf aren’t opening since I’m on FF3. I tried with IE and there is no problem.

Hi, I’m running WordPress 2.6.2.; PHP 4.3.11; GD bundled (2.0.28 compatible); MYSQL 5.0.67-log; have_innodb YES.
Vault installed without a problem. I created a directory and chmod 0777. I activated the plugin and set the directory in Options. When I go to any other menu option I get:
Warning: main(______________________/wp-content/plugins/wp-vault/lib/wpv-table-tag.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /______________________//wp-content/plugins/wp-vault/wpv-file-upload.php on line 6

Note: I blocked out the upper-level path name. The error message showed the complete path.
Thanks for your help.
I have some troubles with uploading big files 3-4mb. Small files uploading correctly. WP and plugin - last versions. For php i set up quota 64mb.
I can’t install.
I have received the message.
It appears that the WP Vault database tables were not created properly in the activation process.
Please make sure that the database user that’s assigned to your installtion of WordPress has table create privilege to your WordPress database (database user and password are defined in wp-config.php file), then try re-activating the plugin.
It’s also possible that your MySQL database does not support InnoDB.
Hi,
I have some troubles with linking files to post or page. Error message “Link filed because of a database error”.
My config:
WP 2.6.3, MySQL 5.0.67, WP Vault 0.8.6.6
Very useful plugin and easy to use. Still I have the following problem…
I uploaded files using WP Vault and all is ok. The problem comes in when I try to backup the files. I cannot get them down using FTP client, nor the file manger hosting admin panel.
I did dig into it and the problem is that the plugin sets chmod to 0600 this way the only user that can access the files is the user that has uploaded them - which in my case is the Apache user which is another user than ftp user. I understand that you did it this way because of security reasons but in my case I cannot backup my files (cannot download them using FTP). I cannot even read those files as I’m not the owner of the files and I don’t have the rights to read them.
So there are a few ways of fixing this problem:
1) provide a tool that will backup those files
2) hack into the upload php file and set chmod to a desired value
3) provide an option in “Vault Options” to set your own permissions
… still for these 2 points… for the previously uploaded files I must create a php script that will change their chmod
4) provide a script to set the permissions to all files to a specified value, to be called when needed.
Anyway… is a good plugin and I’m waiting for a feedback on this and regarding the response I’ll see what I can do further.
Thank you!

I have this site on Dreamhost and everything is ok when I link files to posts, but if I create or edit a page there are no options to link files to It.
If I use “Post/Page selection” I get this error: Service Temporarily Unavailable
The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.
This is the page It is trying to open:
http://www.cpatuaria.com.br/wp.....anager.php
Since nobody else got the same problem I am afraid it is my fault but I didn’t figured out where are my mistake.
Same problem as mentioned in post #61 - problem with linking files to pages. I’ve fixed it by removing “NOT NULL” from column `comment_text` in `file2post` table.
One more thing is that all tables are initially created with `latin1` charset instead of `utf8` used for the database. Please, take it into account in next releases.
Good luck!
Every one remembers that humen’s life seems to be not cheap, however different people require money for different issues and not every man earns big sums cash. Hence to get some mortgage loans and short term loan would be a right solution.
